Woman taken for mental health check after police standoff in Geneva

GENEVA, N.Y. (WHEC) — A police standoff lasting more than five hours in Geneva is now over and one woman is in custody.

Police responded to a domestic call at a home on Pulteney Street and they said there was a fight between a man and woman. Police said the woman had a gun and fired one round inside the house.

Officers brought in the SWAT team to help. Hours later, the woman was taken into custody and went to the hospital for a mental health evaluation.

No one was injured. Police said they did find several guns and a lot of ammo inside the home. Charges are pending.
