Yellow Alert Tuesday for arctic cold and light lake flakes

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — Bitter cold is the main concern this morning as air temps are near zero and the wind chill this morning is -10 to -20 across much of the region.

There is also a little light lake effect snow in the air. Amounts will be minimal but could be just enough to keep some roads a bit slick to start the day. While most of us will pick up an additional dusting of snow a few bands may get a bit better organized for a couple hours this morning east of Rochester where a town here or there could pick up an inch or two of new snow.

The conditions will only slowly improve towards midday into the afternoon. The light lake flakes will fade away and temps will slowly climb into the lower teens for a top temps and the wind chill will ease into the single digits above zero toward the afternoon hours.

Not as harsh tonight as a southerly wind will bring temps into the 20s tomorrow morning and 30s tomorrow afternoon.
