ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — New York has set a new record high in its amount of COVID-19 tests.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo says there were nearly 100,000 test results reported to the state Thursday. He also announced the lowest hospitalizations for COVID-19 in the state since March 16.

Friday morning on the Today show, in an interview with Craig Melvin, Cuomo talked about how confident he is on reopening schools.

“First, fingers crossed on all of this,” Cuomo said. “We've gone from the highest infection rate in the United States to the lowest infection rate, as you know. If there's any state that can reopen schools, it's us.”

Cuomo reiterated his stance that you can't open a school district without parents and teachers being on board.
