ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — The New York State United Teachers Union has filed a new lawsuit over the state's cuts to school funding.

The union says the cuts hinder schools from giving every student a basic education. It also says the state has the ability to draw nearly $7 billion from reserves and settlement funds to avoid any "draconian cuts."

Gov. Andrew Cuomo has said the state needed to make the cuts because they didn't get any additional federal funding.

For more information on the lawsuit, head to the NYSUT's website here.
