CHILI, N.Y. (WHEC) — Saint Pius Tenth School, a Rochester-area Catholic school, welcomed its students back with a car parade Friday morning.

Students attended their opening school mass first, then lined up outside the school with masks on as cars with signs and balloons went by.

First responders, community members and parents took part.

"My sons are in third and fifth grade and they were both very excited about this parade today and I had to ask my fifth grader if he'd allow me to come through the parade and he was excited that I would," Kathryn Casaverde said.

Students at Saint Pius are learning in-person five days a week.
