BRIGHTON, N.Y. (WHEC) — As local schools work through the first full week of mask-optional instruction, some districts are taking a good look at their other pandemic-driven rules.

Brighton announced Friday it's making some changes to its 'test to stay' policy and rapid tests will now play a role.

Brighton said if a student has serious symptoms, the nurse will get consent to test for COVID in school, then send them home.

If the test is negative and the student is improving, they can go to school the next day.

If a student has minor symptoms, they would have the option to test in school and stay that day.
