Buffalo Public Schools ask students, staff to bring district-issued technology home over winter break

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WHEC/WGRZ) — Buffalo’s Public Schools are now asking students and staff to take home their district-issued technology as they prepare for the winter break.

According to WGRZ, the district sent out letters on Monday. The technology includes laptops and tablets.

The district told families it has not made any decision on turning to fully remote learning, but wants everyone to be prepared.

Across our area, COVID cases continue to climb as the state saw another record number of positive COVID-19 test results — 23,391 — on Sunday. Statewide, COVID-19 cases have quadrupled in one week. Locally, Monroe County leaders have said they want to keep both businesses and schools open.

News10NBC has reached out to the Rochester City School District to see if it plans to also ask its students to follow the same guidelines.
