PENFIELD, N.Y. (WHEC) — The Penfield Central School District Friday sent an email to parents about its decision not to bring Penfield High School students back for in-person learning full-time this school year.
Superintendent Thomas K. Putnam said in the email that the district won’t be able to use cohorting at the high school since many classes, study halls and lunches are scheduled with students from multiple grades.
Putnam said the district is fully committed to having all K-12 students return to school in-person full-time in the fall.
Putnam said the district is hopeful that New York State will eliminate cohorting from its COVID-19 guidelines for school for September, but its Reopening Advisory Committees are not waiting for guidance to develop plans for a full return in September.
