PENFIELD, N.Y. (WHEC) — The Penfield Central School District will be operating 100% remotely, effective Thursday.

In a release Wednesday, Superintendent Tom Putnam said the district would be conducting all classes remotely through Tuesday, Dec.22. The district's winter break begins on Dec. 23.

Putnam said the district is dealing with a shortage of bus drivers, and currently, there are four positive COVID cases among its transportation staff. The superintendent added the shortage in drivers pre-dated the pandemic.

Penfield will return to its hybrid schedule starting on Jan.4.

The district is offering breakfast and lunch pickup for families from 10:30 a.m to 12:30 p.m.
