ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — The Rochester City School District got approval for the final portion of its $87 million allocation through the Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act.

The district said Monday it plans to use the money on 52 new full-time COVID response paraprofessionals and 12 community school site coordinators, to expand its Second Step social-emotional curriculum, on personal protective equipment, and overtime pay for custodians.

On the academic support front, it will use the funding for 75 full-time substitutes and to convert 28 part-time teaching positions to full-time, as well as to pay teachers hourly to support additional virtual instructional time for students in quarantine.

The district is also still awaiting an answer to its application for $197 million from the American Rescue Plan Act.
