1 out of 3 COVID-positive patients in the Finger Lakes not admitted for COVID

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — One out of three COVID-positive patients in Finger Lakes hospitals was not admitted for COVID-19, according to state data released Friday.

The data shows that of the 603 COVID-positive patients in the region’s hospitals, 401, or 67%, were admitted for COVID or complications of COVID, whereas 202, or 33% were admitted for non-COVID conditions.

Gov. Kathy Hochul this week asked local governments to start breaking the numbers up into the two data sets, rather than only presenting the single value as localities had been.

Statewide, 43% of COVID-positive hospital patients were not admitted for COVID or COVID complications.
