2 officers injured after memorial turns violent

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — Violence broke out at a memorial after police said they tried to disperse a crowd for not following social distancing guidelines.

This happened on Chili Avenue, near Salina Street, in Rochester on Sunday night.


Officers said more than 100 people flooded the streets and sidewalks. Officers also said when they tried to break up the groups, people started throwing glass bottles at them.

Two officers have minor injuries. They were treated and released from the hospital.

Police have charged three suspects with disorderly conduct.
