(NBCNC) — The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention hopes to have passengers back on cruise ships by July.
In a letter to the industry, the CDC said it is committed to the resumption of passenger operations by mid-summer.
The assurance comes after Alaska joined Florida's April 8 lawsuit to overturn a CDC decision maintaining the sailing ban.
The CDC says if 98% of a ship's crew and 95% of passengers are fully vaccinated, the ship may immediately set sail.
