ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — The Monroe County Department of Public Health reported 136 new COVID-19 cases on Monday. The county also reported nine deaths that happened between Oct. 10 and Oct. 18.

Over the weekend, there were 210 new cases reported Saturday and 151 on Sunday.

Recent state data shows the Finger Lakes region dropped from the first-highest region in the state to the third highest in terms of highest positivity rate over the weekend.

The county is averaging 190 new cases per day over the past week, with a seven-day rolling average positivity rate of 4.0%, per the latest update to the county's COVID-19 dashboard on Oct. 25.

The seven-day COVID-19 case rate was 200.2 through Oct. 23 according to the Centers for Disease Control, which it defines as high.

According to health officials, 76.7% (493,141 people) of Monroe County residents have received at least one dose of the vaccine, and 444,586 residents, or 69.2% of the population, are fully vaccinated as of Oct. 25.

Monroe County's COVID data tracker shows 247 COVID patients hospitalized and 66 in the ICU as of Oct. 24, which is the last day it was updated.

According to the CDC's COVID-19 data tracker, 6.76% of Monroe County's hospital beds were occupied by COVID patients, and 11.79% of Monroe County's ICU beds were occupied by COVID-19 patients as of Oct. 22.

To date, 1,435 people in Monroe County have died from COVID-19 since March 2020.

The Monroe County Department of Public Health resumed providing an update on new COVID-19 cases every weekday on July 27. The CDC's numbers are updated daily but lag by several days.
