ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — Gov. Andrew Cuomo Tuesday announced a commission to design a memorial for essential workers.
"And the memorial says to the essential workers, 'Thank you. We honor you,'" Cuomo said. "They saved the lives of New Yorkers. COVID was a war. And they were war heroes."
The commission will be charged with finding a location for the memorial in New York City.
It will recognize 17 essential worker groups including nurses, teachers, police, store employees and delivery drivers.
