NEW YORK (WHEC) — Gov. Andrew Cuomo is cracking down on personal protective equipment fees.

Wednesday he announced that the Department of Financial Services (DFS) has issued new guidance to health care insurers.

DFS has received several complaints about patients being charged for PPE used due to COVID-19 regulations.

The guidance requires health insurers to check and make sure the patients are not paying for those costs.
