ALBANY, N.Y. (WHEC) — State leaders are eyeing an emergency loan to get New York the billions of dollars it needs during the pandemic.
According to the New York Post, the proposal was outlined in a memo sent to lawmakers from Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie.
Heastie claims since the federal government has delayed income tax filings until July, the state won't get the $12 billion it was banking on for the state budget.
In other words, Heastie believes New York could run out of money.
