ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — Foodlink is working to feed people across the area during the shutdown, but they need your help.

The organization is partnering with the United Way to recruit volunteers.

They need people to fill food boxes at the Riverside Convention Center through next Tuesday.

Foodlink's CEO says they plan to pack more than 10,000 boxes by next week.

If you're healthy but out of work, it's a great opportunity to get out of the house and do some good.

We spoke to one of the volunteers who's doing just that.

"I work at a bakery and we decided not to do takeout, so I decided to volunteer instead, and it's been pretty good. I like doing it," Laurel Brown said.

Foodlink is taking precautions, including social distancing, to keep volunteers safe.
