ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — The state is updating its unemployment system, hoping to make filing for unemployment easier throughout New York.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo's office confirmed the state has teamed up with Google to create a new interface for the system.

This new system should allow more people to sign up at one time without crashing the website.

It's expected to be ready by the middle of this week.

The Department of Labor hotline hours have also been extended to seven days a week.

Additionally, 1,000 additional staff members have been hired to handle claims.
