ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — Compounds in cannabis could prevent COVID-19 infection by blocking the virus’s entry into cells, a new study has found.
The study was published in the Journal of Natural Products by researchers affiliated with Oregon State University.
It found that two specific cannabinoids that are usually found in hemp, cannabigerolic acid (CBGA) and cannabidiolic acid (CBDA) can bind to the spike protein of SARS-CoV-2 and prevent infection.
Both are common and readily available.
