WEBSTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — People who are vaccinated can now mostly live life mask-free. News10NBC talked to some parents about what their plans are when it comes to masking their kids. Many folks were outside soaking up the sun.

"This is our first day really being outside getting to enjoy the weather and we came out just for the splash park,” Jennifer Birdsong-Ng said.

It was wet and wild at Ridgecrest and Webster Recreation Centers spray park, but it was a small bunch so some parents weren't too worried about masking up their kids.

"And just kind of keep them distanced I'll just keep them away from people we don't know and be around people we do but I think at this point, as long as people are conscious of other people and give each other space I think it will be fine,” Birdsong-Ng said.

Other parents told us that they want their kids masked if consistent six-feet distancing isn’t an option.

"I like the mask for my two, my kids do really well with it, and if we can't be able to be six feet apart then we should have a mask,” Savanna Tantiloo said.

Collectively the parents News10NBC spoke with said they would mask their kids in a larger setting like at Seabreeze and Seneca Park Zoo. Both parks are ready to welcome families back.

Seabreeze said in part, “Fully vaccinated guests do not need to wear a face-covering while at the park. Those who are not vaccinated are required to wear an acceptable face covering while at the park; provided, however, that they are over the age of 2 and are able to medically tolerate such a covering. Face coverings must be worn at all times, unless they are temporarily eating or drinking while seated in a designated and socially distanced area, or they are in an aquatic setting.”

Seneca Park Zoo released a statement as well saying, “In response to the revised safety guidelines issued from the CDC, New York State, and local authorities, fully vaccinated guests will not be required to wear masks at Seneca Park Zoo.  Visitors who are not fully vaccinated must continue to wear face coverings at this time, including children aged 3 – 11.  Seneca Park Zoo also encourages following social distancing practices, the continued use of hand sanitization stations, and frequent washing of hands.  Timed ticketing is still in place and we encourage guests, including members, to reserve a spot online.

"When it's busy like that I like to have the masks on all of us just for precaution,” Wael Abouleila, told us.
