ALBANY, N.Y. (WHEC) — Hair salons and barbershops can reopen in phase two, Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced Friday, as some regions, including the Finger Lakes, began phase one of the state's reopening plan.
"That is by definition an up close and personal occupation but hairstyling is in Phase 2, right now we have hairstyling in phase 2, phase 2." Cuomo said during his daily briefing.
The governor also announced state and local beaches and lakeshores are allowed to reopen the Friday before Memorial Day weekend.
If the numbers start to go up, Cuomo said regions will need to slow down its activity level. In the last 24 hours, 132 New Yorkers have died due to the coronavirus.
