ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — Gov. Andrew Cuomo provided an update Sunday on the state of the COVID-19 pandemic in New York.
On Saturday, 59 COVID-19 deaths were reported in New York State. Just one of them was in the Finger Lakes region in Ontario County.
Across the state, 7,467 positive COVID-19 test results were reported on Sunday. Of those new positive results, 188 were from Monroe County, 17 were from Ontario County, nine were from Wayne County, 10 were from Livingston County, 19 were from Genesee County, seven were from Orleans County, two were from Yates County, three were from Seneca County, nine were from Wyoming County and 18 were from Steuben County.
The Finger Lakes had a positivity rate of 2.40% on Saturday, which is an uptick from 2.36% on Friday and 2.27% on Thursday, but our rate is lower than the statewide average of 3.56% on Saturday. The only regions with lower averages than the Finger Lakes as of Sunday are Central New York at 1.21%, North Country at 1.63%, the Mohawk Valley at 1.55% and the Southern Tier at 0.77%.
The update says 41% of ICU beds in the Finger Lakes are available.
