ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — New York State is contacting people who made vaccine appointments using an unauthorized link.

According to the state, an unpublished scheduling link was shared on social media without authorization.

This misled New Yorkers to believe there were appointment times available when there weren't.

The state has referred the issue to the inspector general.

The only way to sign up for vaccinations at state-operated locations is through the New York State Department of Health's "Am I Eligible?" website.
