ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — The man tasked with managing the COVID-19 pandemic at URMC’s Strong Memorial Hospital and Highland Hospital says social distancing has worked to help our area avoid at least an initial apex.

Dr. Michael Apostolakos sat down with News10NBC Investigative Reporter Jennifer Lewke on Monday to discuss the hospitals' response.

For more than a week now, the number of patients with new cases of COVID-19 has been nearly equal to the number of patients discharged, and he believes we’re maintaining a plateau.

Dr. Apostolakos spoke about his staff, his supply of PPE, when he thinks businesses could start to re-open and the research being done locally right now on a vaccine.
