ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — Hundreds of teachers and parents in the Rochester City School District want school buildings to stay closed.

According to an online petition, supporters do not want city schools to reopen for in-person learning until Monroe County reports no new cases for at least a 14-day period.

A district survey released earlier this month showed that staff, families and students have mixed feelings on returning to school.

Last week, News10NBC's Raven Brown spoke with the Rochester Teacher Association President Adam Urbanski. He says it's risky to have students come back to school and fears classrooms could lead to outbreaks.
