ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — The demand for coronavirus testing is ramping up in Rochester.

Like many health care systems, Rochester Regional Health has encountered supply chain issues with test kits.

So, two local companies stepped up to help in different ways.

Rochester Regional had a shortage of one particular testing item: Transport Media.

Medical research company iuvo BioScience qualified its staff and updated equipment to produce Transport Media.

It's now meeting Rochester Regional's demand.

“The local ecosystem that we have here can rally to these types of changes and when we all put our heads together to try to solve a challenge, we’ve got some really smart people solving some really hard problems and this is a great example of how we've been able to do that,” Ben Burton with iuvo BioScience said.

Fulfillment and packaging company Complemar Partners is building test kits and sending them directly to Rochester Regional.

Complemar is assembling more than 7,000 test kits for Rochester Regional a week.
