ALBANY, N.Y. (WHEC) — The state is making COVID-19 testing available to all New Yorkers.
Gov. Andrew Cuomo made the announcement during a press briefing on Wednesday.
Originally, testing was only done if you were displaying symptoms of the virus or if you were a frontline worker.
As a response to the Black Lives Matter protests, the governor expanded testing to also prioritize those participating in the movement.
The governor as often reiterated that testing and tracing are the keys to both flattening the curve and reopening New York.
Currently, the state has 750 testing sites that are under capacity, allowing for the statewide testing expansion.
