BUFFALO, N.Y. (WHEC) — Tesla has announced it's going to reopen its Solar City facility to help make ventilators for the state.
State leaders called on Tesla earlier this week to begin producing ventilators.
The plant temporarily shut down on Monday because of the virus.
Gov. Andrew Cuomo says the state needs at least 30,000 ventilators over the next 21 days to help patients.
Currently, New York only has 11,000.
Elon Musk tweeted he would open up the Buffalo plant as soon as possible to help.
Giga New York will reopen for ventilator production as soon as humanly possible. We will do anything in our power to help the citizens of New York.— Elon Musk (@elonmusk) March 25, 2020
