Tractor-trailers make way en masse to Peace Bridge

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WHEC) — A massive amount of tractor-trailers are crossing the Peace Bridge Wednesday night.

As of 11 p.m. the Peace Bridge Authority was estimating a one-hour 27-minute wait for cars and a one-hour 57-minute wait for trucks to cross Its live cameras showed a seemingly never-ending line of tractor-trailers at the U.S. Inspection Plaza and the Bridge Deck to Canada.

This comes just one day after the "Freedom Convoy" of truckers protesting against COVID vaccine mandates formed a blockade at the Ambassador Bridge between Detroit and Windsor, Ontario. Wednesday, that blockade forced a shutdown of a Ford plant and drawing condemnation from Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

The Buffalo Police Department tweeted saying it expects delays to continue throughout the night and is advising drivers to avoid 190 North from the Peace Bridge to Seneca Street.

The New York State Thruway Authority says drivers should expect delays near Exit 9.
