ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — For the first time since the beginning of the pandemic, UR Medicine and Strong Memorial Hospital announced that it has no COIVD-19 patients on a ventilator.

According to a tweet by UR Medicine  "For the 1st time since the pandemic began, none of our system’s COVID19 patients are on a ventilator. Let’s continue wearing masks and social distancing to keep moving in the right direction."

This news comes after hospitalizations across the state have been at an all-time low. On Saturday, 908 people were reported hospitalized for COVID related symptoms. This is down by 43 from the day before. In addition, Governor Cuomo reported that there have been 13 COVID-19 related deaths since Friday.

Cuomo said  "Today's numbers show a continued, steady decline in our hospitalization and death rates, and proves that a response based on science, not politics, is only way to defeat this virus. While this is good news, New Yorkers cannot become complacent - we must continue to remain vigilant and smart in the fight against COVID-19.  Wear a mask, socially distance - be New York Tough!"
