ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — With the possibility of mask and vaccine mandates, a lot of people have strong opinions.

News10NBC went to the Rochester Public Market for the food truck rodeo where many people gave their opinions on the governor’s mandate.

"I totally agree. Because I work in the healthcare field I’m also used to wearing a mask,” Regina Douglass said.

"I am a healthcare worker, and I do feel that everyone should be vaccinated or wear a mask especially if you’re going into a public facility,” Dianne Smith said.

Both Douglass and Smith work in the healthcare industry. Like them, many of their other healthcare colleagues are most affected by Governor Cuomo’s announcement to mandate vaccines for patient-facing workers in state-run hospitals. Regular state employees have the option to get tested on a regular basis.

"I’m vaccinated so I would recommend it to people just to be safe,” Dominique Montanezgross said.

"With this new variant that’s flying around the country and causing problems, I think until we can get our arms wrapped around it, I think he has a good point,” Jack Tangen said.

We’ve taken many steps forward in our fight against the pandemic, so the thought of having to take steps back and mask again comes with various opinions.

“I would not mask again, I think it’s safe. I’m safe wherever I go,” Montanezgross added.

"I don’t want my life to be lost because people can’t mask up so we need to mask up,” Douglass said.
