ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC)- The FBI and other federal officials are looking into cases of fake COVID-19 vaccine cards.

We're talking about the ones you get after your first shot.

The bureau says its found cases where people are selling the cards, and encouraging others to print them out. The cards are being found online, with posts on social media sites and other websites where you can buy items.

The FBI says if you're caught with a fake card, it could be punishable by law.

Right now there's no system to authenticate those cards, which makes it easy for scammers to make their own. Experts say a digital verification or QR code may soon be rolled out.

Until then,  the FBI asks for people to report any suspicious cases to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
