ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — An executive order that allowed New Yorkers to get drinks to go from bars and restaurants has been extended.

The order was put in place at the beginning of the pandemic to help businesses survive the shutdown.

It was supposed to expire on Wednesday.

The State Liquor Authority now says the privileges will continue until May 6, but maybe extended or reduced depending on circumstances.

There is a bill in Albany that would extend to-go alcohol for two years.

There's no word yet on whether the measure will be called to the floor for a vote.
