ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC)— The COVID hospitalization rate for children in the United States has surged more than 800% over the past six months.
That's according to a study published by JAMA Pediatrics, which is a medical journal. Data shows the trends in hospitalization rates for kids infected with the virus mirrored those of older adults. However, researchers say children are far less likely to end up in the hospital.
According to the CDC, less than 1% of all virus-related hospitalizations and deaths across the country involve patients 24 years old and younger.
