ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC)—A new report looking into the Cuomo administration's handling of nursing homes found the order caused more deaths and should have been changed sooner.
The 242-page report was done by the New York State Bar Association Task Force, and it focused primarily on nursing homes and long-term care. More specifically, the Cuomo admin's controversial executive order that forced residents with COVID to return to nursing homes despite still testing positive for the virus.
Cuomo reversed it two months later in May.
In its findings, the report said the mandate remained in effect weeks longer than necessary.
The governor has defended the order saying he was following CDC guidelines.
