ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC)— Rochester Regional Health will begin its  Phase 1b COVID-19 vaccination campaign Tuesday morning.

According to RRH, the campaign is spread out among 10 clinics, including its hospitals. News10NBC was at Unity Hospital in Greece ahead of the start of the effort. The setup is simple: people do not have to park and go into the hospital to get the vaccine, rather, they will drive up and get vaccinated, similar to the COVID testing system.

New York State first entered 1b on Monday, but many local healthcare providers did not have the supply to be ready, and several viewers reached out to News10NBC to express frustration over the scheduling process.

While 1b applies to groups like those over the age of 75, in-person college instructors, childcare workers, public-facing grocery store workers, transit workers, and individuals living and working in homeless shelters, RRH's clinics only apply to seniors. That's the 75 and up crowd.

Additionally, RRH will also not require you to call to schedule an appointment, as primary care physicians began scheduling their senior citizen patients and calling them with their appointment times already.

The shot is free to a patient, as insurance will cover administrative costs.

For now, only seniors will be getting calls, the rest of the 1b groups can check out the state's new vaccine website, which was launched Monday. In addition to the website, a call center went live Monday afternoon. The number is (833) NYS-4-VAX (1-833-697-4829) The state is expecting a high call volume.

As more vaccinations become available, more seniors will be called. Vaccinations for people in 1b are also ongoing.

RRH's effort kicked off at Unity, with its other locations to begin vaccinating on other days this week.
