ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — On Giving Tuesday, the Tuesday after Thanksgiving, people across the country take the time to give back to their community by volunteering or donating to local charities.
Across the nine-county Greater Rochester area, we call it ROC the Day.
The United Way of Greater Rochester is celebrating 11 years of the 24-hour event that allows people to support local nonprofits on Giving Tuesday. The community has raised more than $8 million in 10 years, according to the organization.
Last year, the event raised more than $1 million.
Here is a list of causes to consider supporting on Nov. 30.
