ALBANY, N.Y. (WHEC) — U.S. congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez spoke against proposed changes to the state's new bail reform law.

The representative from New York says lawmakers need to slow down on proposed changes. Cortez made the comments during a re-election campaign in the Bronx on Sunday.

Last week, some democrats proposed getting rid of cash bail altogether. However, a judge would be given more power on deciding if a suspect is too dangerous to not be sent to jail.

Ocasio-Cortez says it's still too soon to see how effective the law has been.
