ROCHESETER, N.Y. (WHEC) — A Livingston County man is facing several felony charges after deputies say he caused multiple injuries to his three-month-old baby.
The Livingston County Sheriff's Office arrested 22-year-old Dustin Smith, of Nunda, June 3, after Child Protective Services notified deputies of a small child who was being treated at Strong Memorial Hospital. The baby was found to have multiple rib fractures, multiple leg fractures, and possible fractures to both arms.
Smith allegedly caused the injuries after he became frustrated and angry while caring for his child.
"This baby doesn't have a voice to tell anybody, doesn't have the ability to run away, apparently has no protector in the home, and frankly, it's disgusting," Sheriff Tom Dougherty said. "As a parent, my heart breaks, and the accusations are just disgusting."
He is facing charges of two counts of first-degree attempted assault, two counts of first-degree reckless endangerment, and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child.
Deputies say the baby is with now family outside the home, and an order protection was issued protecting the baby from any contact with Smith.
Smith is being held in the Livingston County Jail on $15,000 cash or $30,000 bond
