ALBANY, N.Y. (WHEC) — Some area schools are hoping high school sports will soon return to New York State.
Many schools are ready with safety protocols in place and they're appealing to local lawmakers for help.
On Wednesday Assemblywoman Marjorie Byrnes said on Twitter that she will be co-sponsoring a bill that would require high school sports to restart.
I am proud to co-sponsor a bill requiring HS sports to restart. Press conference tomorrow in Hudson Valley.— Marjorie Byrnes (@Byrnes4Assembly) January 13, 2021
Byrnes represents New York's 133rd Assembly District, which includes Livingston County and small parts of Monroe and Steuben Counties.
Byrnes will be holding a press conference on Thursday morning in the Hudson Valley to discuss the bill further.
