ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — The timetable has been set for officials to decide the fate of fall high school sports.
The executive director for the New York State Public High School Athletic Association posted on twitter that the decision will be made within 72 hours of the guidelines being announced.
Preparing for guidance from @NYGovCuomo. @NYSPHSAA will utilize the following timeline once guidance is released: 1) within 24 hrs, Section Directors & Officers will meet, 2) within 48 hrs, COVID Task Force will meet, 3) within 72 hrs, Officers will make a decision "IF" needed.— Dr. Robert Zayas (@RobertZayasNY) August 21, 2020
Governor Cuomo said on Wednesday he planned to release those guidelines within a week.
The earliest the season would be able to start is September 21, which is when officials originally pushed the start date back to.
"Plan B" would be to try and jam all three sports seasons into a schedule starting after January.
