ALBANY, N.Y. (WHEC) — Billions of dollars in federal funding that was supposed to improve health care in New York has been pulled.
Gov. Andrew Cuomo is blaming President Donald Trump for playing politics with the state. Cuomo believes the move has to do with New York denying the feds access to its DMV system.
He says the $8 billion in grant money was going to help the Medicaid delivery program which benefits the poor and middle class.
Cuomo says this will cost the state about $600 million this year.
This comes as New York is working to close a $4 billion budget gap caused by Medicaid.
Cuomo says he plans on fighting the move.
The White House hasn't responded.
