ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — The United States Coast Guard is reminding the public to use "extreme caution" on the ice along Lake Ontario, Lake Erie, and the Finger Lakes.
The Coast Guard says there have been multiple accidents in the past few weeks that have resulted in people falling through the ice into frigid water losing personal recreational equipment, like snowmobiles and ATVs.

If you do engage in recreational activities on or near the cold water, officials are reminding the public to take proper safety precautions.
