CALEDONIA, N.Y. (WHEC) — A 21-year-old woman died from the fire that took place in Caledonia on Saturday night.

The fire, which started around 7:30 p.m. near Caledonia Avon Road in Caledonia, also injured two firefighters. On Saturday, only one deputy was reported injured. The confirmation of a second deputy injury brings the total number of first-responder injuries to four.

According to the sheriff's office, 21-year-old Mikayla Ross was still in a second-floor apartment when they showed up, but deputies and police officers were not able to get into the house because of fire at the entrance.

They also tried to use a ladder to get to Ross's window, but that didn't work either.

When firefighters arrived on the scene, they were able to cut a hole in the side of the house.

EMS workers tried to revive Ross, but she died at the scene.

The investigation into the fire continues, and News10NBC will bring any further updates as they become available.
