Central Orleans Volunteer Ambulance will stay open

ORLEANS CO., N.Y. (WHEC) — Central Orleans Volunteer Ambulance is working to stay open 24-7 despite dire budget issues.

It warned the community on Thursday that it could no longer afford to operate from 11 p.m. to 7 a.m.

But a day later the agency said they saw an outpouring of support and are going to try to keep serving during those hours.

Central Orleans Volunteer Ambulance says it had to make payroll, staff and budget cuts, and inflation, decreasing health insurance reimbursement rates and outstanding patient bills continue to be an issue.
