Police chase ends with car crashing into semi-truck on Route 531 near Manitou Road
GATES, N.Y. — A police chase ended with a car heading the wrong way crashing into a semi-truck on Friday afternoon around the Gates town line.
The crash happened on Route 531 near Manitou Road. News10NBC is working to learn more.
Our photojournalist captured what appeared to be the suspect being handcuffed. Video also shows a man who appears to be bleeding led away from the crashed car by police. He was placed into an ambulance. A few law officers appeared to be treating minor scratches on their arms at the scene.
This happened just before 1 p.m. Police haven’t confirmed where the chase began, but there are reports that the car was on Route 490 before the crash.
New York State police and Rochester police were involved in the chase. Traffic was closed down along Route 531 in both directions at one point, causing major delays for drivers.
