ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The bishop of the Rochester Catholic Diocese is asking the faithful to unite in prayer for Pope Francis.

Vatican officials say the pope has had difficulty breathing recently and will be hospitalized for several days. This comes just hours after the pope was admitted to the hospital for scheduled tests.

Rochester Bishop Salvatore Matano also says the pope is touched by the many messages received and expressed his gratitude.
