The newest K-9 to join the Rapid City, South Dakota Police Department now has snow boots to help him while on duty.

To keep warm this winter, the K-9 named Jary was given dog boots, rubber boots with traction pads.

The police dog wasn't immediately sure how to walk in his new shoes as he stumbled through his adjustment period.

The night before Jary got his boots,  their other K-9 had a long trek through the snow chasing a person who bailed out during a stolen car pursuit.

Recognizing the freezing temperatures, Senior Officer Matt Hower, decided to get him equipped with snow boots.

It took some time, but Jary has since adjusted to the boots pretty well.
