ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — A suspected bank robber is in custody after police say he robbed a second bank and then led police on a wild chase through Monroe County.

Deputies responded to a robbery at the M&T Bank on Monroe Avenue in Pittsford around 2 p.m. Tuesday. The suspect passed a note to the bank teller, and then fled the scene with an unknown amount of money.

Gates Police later spotted the getaway car on Jay Street in Rochester.

Deputies say Jason Rosso, 40, led officers from multiple police agencies on a chase through Rochester, Gates, Henrietta and Brighton, where he crashed into a tree at Winton Place Plaza.

This comes a day after deputies say he robbed Canandaigua National Bank & Trust on West Ridge Road in Greece.

Rosso was arrested and charged with third-degree robbery and is being held without bail in the Monroe County Jail.

A woman, who was with him in the car, was also detained for questioning.
